About MeI'm Konrad Carter

I am a native of the West Coast, born in Oregon and raised in the suburbs north of Seattle. After my military service and University, I spent 30 years working for Southern California governments. Becoming an artist was never something I considered.

Upon retiring from government service, I moved to the Coachella Valley. The desert’s vibrant colors and boundless energy captivated me. To my surprise, this inspiration ignited my creative passion. Despite any formal training, I picked up a paintbrush and started creating.

My approach is often gestural, nonobjective, energetic, and infused with movement. The entire painting surface transforms into an active canvas, which are typically large, vibrant, and imbued with emotional focal points.

I favor bold and diverse compositions, deviating from representational art. My objective is not merely to evoke a moment in life as I have experienced it, but to convey my impressions and interpretations of a moment in life.

Relocating to Palm Springs transformed my life, providing opportunities for new pursuits and directions. For decades, I was confined within the business of governments, but now I embrace my new-found journey and have discovered that I no longer have boundaries.
